Ice Cream Socials, Father’s Day Fun, and More

Friday afternoon ice cream socials are always a hit for members in Shoreview’s Garden Cove North and West communities. There’s no better way to welcome a summer weekend than getting together for tasty sundaes, catchy tunes, good conversation, and plenty of laughs! 🍨🍦🙂

For Father’s Day, the men of Shoreview Senior Living enjoyed time conversing together over pizza, beer, and soda! They relaxed with good food and drinks, learned more about each other, and even laughed at a some classic dad jokes. 😉😆🍻🍕

Yeehaw! We had so much fun getting back in the saddle of enjoying our summer cookouts with our Western Barbecue. Special thank you to Chef Josh for delicious homestyle cookin’! 🤠 🍖🌭

We are thankful for Trent’s green thumb and care of our patio gardens, landscaping, and all the beautiful flowers at Shoreview Senior Living! 🧑‍🌾🌺🌸🌷

Shirley painted her pots, planted her seeds, and has been providing all the right TLC – now she has a beautiful zinnia garden for her windowsill. Great job, Shirley! 🪴

Residents of Shoreview Senior Living were tapping their toes, clapping their hands, and having a great time listening to the Centennial Stompers! Miss Maisy is always so funny and it’s such a treat whenever she stops by. We also love visiting with our sweet Labrador friend, Winthrop! 🐶🎶

Nothing says “FUN” like dancing to the music of Tony Garry! Thanks for a wonderful performance and incredibly fun dance party, Tony! 🎶💃🕺🎶

Residents from our Garden Cove North apartments recently enjoyed some outdoor patio time. They loved the opportunity to visit with one another and pick a flower or two! ??

A few of your friends from Shoreview Senior Living wanted to send you greetings, and one decided to use classic lyrics to help spread some smiles!

We like to keep our afternoons busy with various activities here at Shoreview Senior Living, whether we’re catching up on the news, building a LEGO masterpiece, or getting our hair done!

Residents in our Garden Cove apartments have discovered a new favorite pastime: stencil painting! It’s a fun, relaxing activity with plenty of room for creativity. Plus, the outcomes are always beautiful! ?

Our friend, Yvonne, is at it again! She has been making extra-cozy (and extremely huggable ) lap blankets and shoulder wraps for her fellow residents at Shoreview Senior Living. Thank you, Yvonne!

Enjoying the Outdoors and Family Visits

We’ve been enjoying the outdoors with family, friends, and tasty treats at Shoreview Senior Living. We also had a birthday celebration outside. Check it out!

So thankful for our shady outdoor patio. We love being outside, even on the warmest of days! 

We’re incredibly thankful for outdoor visits with friends and families, and you can’t beat the added bonus of a snuggly puppy. Some residents are getting creative, adding FaceTime calls for the ultimate outdoor family visit. Thank you for stopping by! 

Seeing one’s family is a perfect way to celebrate a birthday! And when it’s so close to the Fourth of July, you have to have decorations covered in sparkles. Please join us in wishing Mary Kay a very happy birthday, Mary Kay! ??

Slice of Shoreview Days Parade and Other Fun Celebrations

We’ve made our way into the last month of summer, but the good times keep rollin’ here at Shoreview! Check out photos from our walk in the Slice of Shoreview Days parade and other fun celebrations.

We had so much fun at the Slice of Shoreview Days parade! The crowd loved Rockin’ Tony’s music and our candy, squirt bottles (it was a hot day), and flamingos!

It’s not every day that you get to celebrate a 95th Birthday! Happy Birthday, Elon! ??

Our neighbors, the Kindercare Kids, shared a creative dance with us and led us in a fun game of bingo!

Tenants enjoyed a game of quarter bingo Monday morning. What a great way to begin the week!

We enjoy socializing during our Friday afternoon happy hours. Groups like Jim and Cactus Willie bring out the music in us! ????

Hawaiian BBQ, live music, and other fun events at Shoreview

Summer fun has kept on rollin’ here at Shoreview! This July, we’ve had a Hawaiian BBQ, live music, and other fun events – check it out!

It’s hard to decide which part of our recent trip to Green Mill was best: the delicious meal or the ride!

Listening to Lyndon Griffin’s stories and songs about the Old West was so much fun!  

This month’s lesson and craft with Silverwood Nature Center taught us about the importance of sunlight in nature.

Monday morning bingo with friends is a great way to start the week!

Monroe knows how to bring a smile to our faces and put a song in our hearts! Celebrating our monthly birthdays with him was an absolute blast!

Maria not only keeps our library in order, she also keeps it decorated to always match the season. Thanks for celebrating freedom, Maria!

Kicking off summer at Shoreview Senior Living

Kicking off summer at Shoreview Senior Living with a boat trip and lots of live music!

Our boating trip on White Bear Lake was relaxing, fun, and informative! The captain, crew, and our own residents shared stories about the history of the homes on White Bear Lake. 

We love to gather on Friday afternoons for happy hour as we visit with one another and listen to great music!

The Metro Men delighted us with barbershop music and even some pretty funny stories!

Everyone sang beautifully and had a blast at our sing-a-long with Jeff! ??

Gary visited both Garden Coves, East and North, for a fun afternoon of singing some favorites!

Good Times in July

Another month just flew by! Residents participated in the Slice of Shoreview Days parade, celebrated birthdays, and enjoyed many good times in July.

On Saturday morning, Shoreview Senior Living participated in the Slice of Shoreview Days parade! It turned out to be a beautiful day. Rockin’ Tony made this day even more special by joining us on the float. Thank you to all who helped make this event happen. Be sure to check us out on CTV North Suburbs online. We also wanted to give a shout out to DARTS Aging and Caregiving Resources transportation for all their time and dedication!

90th Birthday

This is where the memories begin. A family celebrating their mom’s and friend’s 90th Birthday.

Yoga, Trivia, and Volleyball

We started the day with a game of volleyball, then we played a little trivia out on the patio in the afternoon. Residents enjoyed a bit of ice cream while testing their knowledge. Once they were filled up, we went inside to do some relaxing yoga with Nancy. We can’t thank you enough, Nancy, for your time and dedication! We all had a wonderful afternoon.

Silverwood Nature Center

Silverwood Nature Center visited again and talked about farmers markets. Residents were able to share their stories of canning their favorite veggies and fruit, as well as their days on the farm. They also created a berry bowl from clay which will be fired in the kiln and brought back next month for them to enjoy!

Fishing

Monday was such a busy day. A group of residents headed out to White Bear Lake to go fishing. We couldn’t ask for a more beautiful day! Everyone caught a fish! Ricardo caught the smallest fish, and Donna pulled in the largest fish. When we docked, residents enjoyed some lunch by the lake. Thank you, Ted, Kathy, and Julie for a terrific morning. Bear Boating of White Bear Lake, MN is a wonderful organization!

Summer Fun

We’ve had beautiful weather recently, which means lots of summer fun!

Showtime Gals

We had the privilege of watching the Showtime Gals. They are always a treat to see every year, with their new songs and sparkling personalities. They sang various show tunes and songs from the good ol’ days. We love to see their different costumes that go with each number. What a talented bunch of ladies! At the end of the show, they went around and visited with the residents. Thank you, Showtime Gals!! Be sure to remember your local food shelf. They are always in need this time of year!

Fishing

Monday was a beautiful day to go fishing on White Bear Lake. The water was perfect, and the fish were biting!! Residents caught a pumpkinseed, a bass, and some nice sized sunnies. It was exciting! Only Kevin and Kristy were skunked and only had their grub worm to show. A special shout-out to Captain Bob, his crew, Kathy and Jan, and White Bear Boating for helping us make this day possible.

Creature Encounters

We had the pleasure of having Creature Encounters Inc. join us for a live exotic animal show. Residents learned about Crockett, a Patagonian cavy, who looks like a very large guinea pig. We met Smog, the bearded dragon, who scientists believe taught us how to wave. There was also Russel, the three-banded armadillo, Jeff, the chinchilla, and Harley, the hedgehog. Residents were able to touch them and learn more about their environment. The animals were all so adorable. I don’t think we will get any as a pet, but they were sure fun to see. Afterward, the residents gathered outside for a bit of sunshine and chit-chat.

Patio Fun

Residents had a great afternoon on the patio playing poor man’s golf and enjoying root beer floats. Summer doesn’t get much better than this!
