New Toy

February 22nd, 2018

We finally received a new toy… a karaoke machine! It was so much fun to play around with, especially during manicures. Lee had all the ladies listening and applauding him! We can’t wait to get more CDs. February may be coming to an end, but Trudi helped us continue to celebrate with “The Day of Love.” She is an inspiration to all the residents, and they just love seeing her and Frank each month.

Leo, the dog, visited once again and spread some furry love. He played balloon ball in Garden Cove, too! Elon was surprised when he stole the balloon! The room was filled with the LOVE of friends and feelings of beauty within everyone!

Batik Art

February 14th, 2018

Residents learned the ancient Indonesian art of Batiking. They colored shapes and patterns on color-resistant paper. Then the unimaginable happened; they had to crumple them up! Many just looked at me thinking, “Why on earth would I do that?”

Once they finally did it, they painted, blotted, and ironed the paper. We finished it with some lamination. They turned out great! Someday, we will do fabric Batik. It is always fun to learn ways of a different culture.

Field Trip: Lake Elmo Inn

February 7th, 2018

Thirty-four residents took a trip out for lunch in the glass sunroom at Lake Elmo Inn. The ambiance was beautiful and the food was great. The topic of most conversation was the Super Bowl. It was cool that the restaurant had the leftovers packaged in a tinfoil swan. Reminds me of my grandma, who neatly folded every piece of foil in her drawer. We even received a 25% discount for being “old,” as one person put it! Thank you, Lake Elmo Inn, for a wonderful afternoon! We made it back in time for residents to make a layered rose valentine for someone special.
