Ice Cream Social

July 26th, 2017

Special thanks to Cindy and Lisa from Interim who hosted an Ice Cream Social for everyone. Luke the Housing Director also brought in his F3 Procharged 67 Nova for residents to see. Gail our house keeper looked pretty good sitting in the drivers seat. Luke explained all the details of the car and some history behind his racing. His father grew up racing and Luke followed suit with a strong interest starting at age 12. He and his dad built his current car in 6 months. Looks amazing!! He told us his fastest time from dead stop was 208 mph in 6.7 seconds. WOW!!!

Saturday 22nd, residents put on their tie-dye shirts and headed down to the Slice of Shoreview Parade. Rockin Tony helped us make a grand entrance with his music which we all danced to. You are amazing Tony!! It was so fun to be a part of this community event where we saw so many of our neighbors. Want to thank Tim for his dedication in driving the trailer and his hard work helping get this together, and Jason and Tom from DARTS Transportation… couldn’t of done it with out you. A special shout-out to some newer residents Tony and Ermi who jumped right in to give a hand. Tony did a great job taking over the grill, not only does he cook, he cleans too. Trip to Mill City Museum

July 11th, 2017

This morning residents took a trip to the Mill City Museum. It was spectacular! We especially like the Flour Tower and the lookout on 9th floor. Some were daring to go out on the patio, while others just were fine staying inside and looking out the window. There was so much information we did not know about, and some information which brought back many memories. Even caught Bob designing his own cereal box and Harriet playing in the water.

Remember the saying “Oh Maynard”, well we now remember it came from the old Malt O Meal advertisement, it was the little boys imaginary friend. Wheaties was said to be accidentally invented in 1921 by a gentleman who spilled grits on a hot stove and they became crispy…hmmm? WCCO actually stands for Washburn-Crosby CO. and that women were hired during the busy time at $3.00 per week! We later went down to Bushel and Peck and enjoyed some box lunches prepared by Chef Dean…Delicious! A great afternoon indeed!

July 5th, 2017

Today Three Rivers Park joined us for another great afternoon! Residents learned about Minnesota’s State symbols, such as the Loon is the state bird, milk is the state drink and blueberry muffin which was proposed by a group of 4th graders is our state muffin.  We are trying to decide which should be our state mammal, don’t think the mosquito will win this one!!  Residents then made a plant stake out of clay. They looked great and we look forward to seeing the final masterpieces next month after they are fired.
