Spring Fun

Indoor Fun and Warm Spring Wishes

April 30th, 2020

We’ve been staying safe and enjoying ourselves here at Shoreview Senior Living, and we wanted to share some indoor fun and warm spring wishes.

Here are some beautiful smiles to wish you all a very wonderful day! ?

Shoreview Senior Living resident, Joan, sends a happy “hello” to friends and family. She’s doing well, and hopes you all are, too! Cheers!

You can never get tired of the doing the “Hokey Pokey!”

There’s plenty of laughter during hall bingo. Our winners are also shouting out “bingo” with extra gusto these days!

He’s so humble when it comes to his art, but look at the pictures we “borrowed” for our bulletin board!

Shoreview Senior Living staff delighted residents with “made-to-order breakfasts” delivered right to their apartments! There’s nothing like a hot breakfast of bacon, sausage, pancakes, toast, and eggs made your way!  ???

Movement in May

May 21st, 2018

The past few weeks have been full of activities that inspired residents to get moving!

Yoga and Volleyball

We had a terrific Tuesday! Residents started out with volleyball in the morning. It’s becoming pretty competitive! After lunch, we all headed out for some trivia on the patio. We ended the wonderful day outside doing yoga with Nancy.

Mother’s Day Tea

Monday afternoon, we enjoyed sitting on the patio before the rain came. Afterwards, we ventured inside for our Mother’s Day Tea Party. David Geske played some beautiful piano music for all the ladies (and a few men too), while the residents enjoyed tea with little cucumber sandwiches and petite desserts. It was a beautiful afternoon to celebrate with the moms at Shoreview Senior Living!

Senior Prom

A room filled with beautiful decorations, a corsage for each resident, and nothing but smiles made for the start of a wonderful Prom. The beauty of each resident was captured as they enjoyed an afternoon of music with Dan and Judy from Bandanaa, dancing, and gourmet treats. A few teenagers from Mounds View High School joined us and helped create many lasting memories. They were such joyful and compassionate students as they danced and visited with the residents. This intergenerational experience is rewarding for the students and seniors. We were proud to crown Dawn and Lee Herndon as the 2018 King and Queen of Shoreview Senior Living. Thank you to everyone who helped make this day special!!!

Canvas Painting

Mrs. Jill visited residents to do some canvas painting. They each created beautiful spring paintings of flowers in a field. I love how the residents can relax and get lost in their painting.

Dancing to Amy and Adams

Residents enjoyed their weekly happy hour with Amy and Adams. They are a wonderful and talented music duo. The music got the residents singing, dancing, and tapping their toes. “Ralph” (my puppet) even came out to get Telly to smile a little bit. Then Leo caught a dance with mom. Amy and Adams are a fun couple. We look forward to seeing them again!

Easter Fun!

April 6th, 2018

These past few weeks have been a blast with Easter activities and some music!

Dulcimer

Lori Ronchak visited and played the Hammered Dulcimer during happy hour. It was such a unique and beautiful instrument that her brother made. She was very talented. We also did some sing-a-longs and music trivia on the piano.

Easter Bunny

A group of kids visited residents and made crafts, played games, and got “tattoos.” The Easter bunny hopped on over to celebrate with all the kids! They also had some special treats to take home with them. Thank you to all the residents and volunteers who helped make this a wonderful and successful morning.

Coloring Eggs

Residents went back in time as they remembered decorating their Easter eggs as kids. Four dozen beautiful eggs were completed. Some were painted, some were dipped, and others used tissue paper. We are now ready for deviled eggs! A few residents kept crafting and created a Mod Podge egg or a cross, too!

St. Odilia Kids Visit

Students from St. Odilia School visited Shoreview Senior Living again. They performed skits, sang songs, and made crafts! It was so special seeing the two generations engage with one another. Not only did residents get attention, but Leo loved it as well!! Thank you, Saint Odilia 4th-graders, for spending some quality time with us here at Shoreview!

Yoga & Polka

A little yoga with Nancy and a little polka with Dan made for a wonderful day! The continuous Minnesota snow won’t stop our fun here at Shoreview Senior Living.

St. Patrick’s Day 2018

March 19th, 2018

Before our big St Patrick’s day celebration, some residents learned how to play Hand and Foot, while others played a little Farkle. With the room all decked out in green, Bandannaa joined us for a wonderful afternoon with our favorite Irish tunes. The residents enjoyed green margaritas and shamrock punch. Ricardo even brought his spoons and played along to a few of the songs. It’s no Blarney – It was great to see everyone get into the Irish spirit. Thank you to our wonderful leprechauns, Deb and Michelle, for helping make this day a success!

Shamrocks

March 7th, 2018

Residents started getting into the Irish mood by making some shamrocks. It was a unique process where we started with a few strips of paper, but then they turned out very festive. It’s no blarney that we are ready for St. Patrick’s Day!!!

Trip to the Arboretum

May 24th, 2017

Today we went on a trip to the Arboretum. We took in all the beauty spring has to offer on the 3-mile drive. Of course half way through someone had to “go” so residents used the outhouse…what memories this brought up!! After the drive we went inside and had some wonderful sandwiches with all the fixings in the Tea Room surrounded by natures beauty once again. Residents then went through the Conservatory and saw various types of plants and orchids and checked out the gift shop as well. This place is stunning!! Defiantly a great was to kick off spring.

On the way home we were able to see Prince’s Paisley Park. The fence was still covered with memorials and was interesting to see. We got back just in time to relax with a bit of Happy Hour or some decided to get a nap in before dinner. What a fun day!!
