Groundhog Day Coloring Contest & More February Fun

Congratulations to Shoreview Senior Living resident, Jenny, for winning our Groundhog Day coloring contest! Here’s Jenny’s beautiful submission, as well as a photo of her holding her prize: a pot of Spring bulbs peeking out of the soil (complete with a groundhog, of course). She also won a free meal. Awesome job, Jenny!

What a joy it is to sing as a group! We like to get together and sing tunes from a variety of genres: folk, pop, country, spiritual, and even silly songs! 🎶🎤

Who says you can’t make wearing a mask a little fun? Look how stylish our friend, Donny, looks in his light-up mask!

Celebrating Assisted Living Week & Fall Fun

Earlier this month, we celebrated Assisted Living Week by recognizing the many “shining stars” we have working at Shoreview Senior Living! Each associate received goodie bags and special recognition throughout the week. To cap it all off, some of our kitchen staff helped run a random name drawing for our associates to win gift cards and a few other fun prizes. We are so lucky to have such amazing, caring people on our team. Thank you, Shoreview Senior Living staff, for all that you do for everyone in our community!

Having a tasty, freshly cooked breakfast delivered right to your front door makes getting up in the morning a LOT easier. We love our made-to-order breakfasts here at Shoreview Senior Living!

Our friend, Yvonne, has been at it again with her handcrafted shawls and lap quilts, and just in time for the chilly autumn weather. Thanks again, Yvonne!

There’s nothing quite like the sound of music when it comes to spreading joy. We always have such a wonderful time when we can get together and sing, even if we have to meet in the hall and stay socially distanced!

With the season change, we decided it was time to decorate our halls with some fall art! We had lots of fun talking about the funny and clever antics of squirrels during a recent painting project. ??

Birthday Surprises & More Fun Activities

Many birthday surprises awaited our birthday girl, Carol! Cake, cards, flowers, and sidewalk messages outside her window made for a very happy day, indeed!

It was a beautiful day for refreshing ice cream sundaes and uplifting music in the hallways at Shoreview Senior Living! ??

Social distancing, roaming ‘Beverages & Music,’ and plenty of laughter make up another successful happy hour.

Shoreview Senior Living residents have been challenged to find the artist AND the author within themselves. This was their first project, to come up with words to accompany their artwork. Everyone did a fabulous job!

Spending Valentine’s Day with our singer/pianist, Tara, couldn’t have been any sweeter! Lucky door prize winners won a cuddly Valentine’s Day gift! ❤️?

Celebrating our longtime volunteer JoAnn’s birthday was the highlight of our bingo game this week! ??

Singing some “oldies but goodies” always brings back many memories and creates lots of smiles. A good old-fashioned sing-along and happy hour made for a very fun afternoon!

Spreading Holiday Spirit

Singing, treats, and laughter – just a few of the ways we were spreading holiday spirit around the halls of Shoreview Senior Living!

The holidays are better with treats, and we had a wonderful time decorating cookies together. There was plenty of laughter and cookie sampling!

We had so much fun with Trudi and Frank at our December Sing-Along! Some of our own residents even joined in to lead “The 12 Days of Christmas,” which was especially entertaining!

Kent Appeldoorn had us all laughing and singing at a recent happy hour.

Shoreview Senior Living residents rang in the New Year with a festive countdown party, complete with ice cream sundaes, music, and plenty of cheering!??

Dancing, Music, and Laughs

So far, December has been filled with lots of dancing, music, and laughs here at Shoreview Senior Living. Check out all the fun!

What a happy, happy time we had with the Kisarit Finnish Dance Group! They had us tapping our toes, dancing, and having an absolute blast!

Hanging with Tony Garry and singing along to his music is always a great time!

Those Sawdusters are so much fun! The group recently put on an amazing show here at Shoreview Senior Living, and everyone had an incredible time singing along and listening to their jokes!

Kicking off summer at Shoreview Senior Living

Kicking off summer at Shoreview Senior Living with a boat trip and lots of live music!

Our boating trip on White Bear Lake was relaxing, fun, and informative! The captain, crew, and our own residents shared stories about the history of the homes on White Bear Lake. 

We love to gather on Friday afternoons for happy hour as we visit with one another and listen to great music!

The Metro Men delighted us with barbershop music and even some pretty funny stories!

Everyone sang beautifully and had a blast at our sing-a-long with Jeff! ??

Gary visited both Garden Coves, East and North, for a fun afternoon of singing some favorites!

Fun May Activities and Events at Shoreview

Lots of May activities and events at Shoreview!

We love our happy hours and music with Kent! It’s always so much fun spending this special time together!

We loved both the food and conversation at the Little Venetian restaurant in Little Canada. We’re more than ready to go back!

We love it when Trudi visits us with flowers and music! ???

We celebrated the special women in our lives at our May Ladies’ tea party. We wore fancy hats and flowers as we conversed, sipped our tea, and enjoyed music provided by our delightful guest, Tara.

This Memorial Day weekend, we at Shoreview Senior Living remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Fun Events and Easter Celebrations at Shoreview

April 30th, 2019

We love our Friday happy hours! Chefs John and Holly spoil us with their tasty hors d’oeuvres!

Trudi brings sunshine on cloudy days with her songs, props, and smile!

The presentation about St. Paul Gangsters was fascinating! We learned so much during the program, and our own residents had LOTS to share about their own neighborhoods back in the day.

Filling the eggs for the egg hunt was full of many wonderful memories! We talked about Easter celebrations that we remembered with our friends and family.

Celebrating Easter in a very special way! We were thankful to have an Easter service right here at our Shoreview Senior Living Community. We sang hymns, heard the message, and shared in the liturgy.

Our Kindercare visitors were a breath of fresh air as they laughed with us, sang for us, and shared much excitement in their hunt for Easter eggs.  We love spending time with our young friends!

Shoreview: Never Short on Fun!

What a blessed holiday season we have had! At Shoreview Senior Living, we have lived life to the fullest the past couple of months. From worship services, sing-a-longs, Rockin’ Tony, and a Christmas tea party, to entertainment from the Senior Saxes, there is no shortage of fun activities here! Check out all of the pictures below.

Fun singing carols and making jingle bell music together!

Pastor Steve and Professor Burkart led us in Thanksgiving worship. We heard an inspiring message, sang songs, and learned the history of familiar Thanksgiving hymns.

Residents at Shoreview Senior Living had a great time making hats for our upcoming tea party!

The Senior Saxes entertained us with holiday music during happy hour!

Cheesecake, holiday trivia, Christmas carols, fun hats, and time together made for a very enjoyable Christmas tea party!

We enjoyed a fabulous lunch buffet at the beautifully decorated Lake Elmo Inn and Event Center!
