Silverwood Nature Center, Pontoon Ride, & Other Fun Events

August 20th, 2021

Shoreview Senior Living residents recently visited Silverwood Nature Center to learn about our Minnesota Lakes. The Nature Center is part of Silverwood Park, which integrates nature and art with its open green spaces with gorgeous lake views, art gallery, outdoor amphitheater, and collection of hiking trails. It’s a great place to learn and explore, and we did exactly that.

Our residents also took home a very special art project. Everyone got their very own screen print of our handcrafted lake scene.

There are few better ways to spend a morning than with a relaxing pontoon boat ride. Our captain chauffeured Shoreview Senior Living residents around White Bear Lake and shared with us an abundance of history about the lake and its surrounding homes and towns.

The weather was perfect, and the company was even better!

Residents of Shoreview Senior Living were recently inspired by Deacon Jim’s messages during morning Mass. We all enjoyed his uplifting words as well as readings and prayers. He also tells some pretty good jokes, which keeps us all on our toes.

Jim and Dan are among our extremely talented musicians at Shoreview Senior Living. Recently, residents were treated to a performance by this gifted duo. Jim and Dan served as the musical act for one of our Thursday entertainment events, and residents packed the room to hear them play. Everyone had a fabulous time, tapping toes and bobbing heads while singing along to the music.

Thank you to Jim and Dan for such an amazing show!

Alzheimer’s Association Fundraisers & More

September 6th, 2019

We’re coming into the end of summer, but the fun continues here at Shoreview! This month, we’ve held Alzheimer’s Association fundraisers, learned about nature, and much more. Check it out!

To raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association, our residents and staff donated items for a “happy hour auction.” A fun afternoon fundraising for a great cause!

More fundraising for the Alzheimer’s Association! On August 21, everyone enjoyed a delicious meal, reminisced, and shared memories during our old-time, ’50s-themed BBQ fundraiser.

We love the monthly visits and lessons with our friends from Silverwood Nature Center! We get to learn so much about nature, and then apply it to the art we create that day.

A change of plans due to rainy weather can be a bummer. But when that change involves ice cream and music, life is good! ???

Trudi brings us sunshine each month with her love of music. For August, she brought us an afternoon at the state fair!

We are thankful for this couple, Tony and Irmi. They spend a LOT of time in the back garden, and we all reap the rewards!

Live Music, Nature Education, and Lots of Fun at Shoreview!

April 19th, 2019

We’ve been busy at Shoreview Senior Living. Check out some of the fun events at Shoreview from the last few weeks!

Interim HealthCare joined us for bingo. They not only called the numbers and provided prizes – they also led us in gentle exercises throughout the game. It was fun AND felt great!

These little canines sure can warm our hearts! We love spending time with Benny and Daisy. ?

The folks from Silverwood Nature Center gave us an informative session about birds and led us in making beautiful feathers out of clay. ???

We tapped our toes and sang along during our evening with the Pistachio Singers. There songs from the ’40s brought back many memories and their harmonies were beautiful! ??

We love music, and time spent rockin’ with Tony is always a blast!

The theme for this month’s visit to the James J. Hill house was “Art Collections.”  We learned that James Hill was an avid collector of paintings.  We also viewed a special exhibit of Nicholas Brewer’s works that are currently on display at the J.J. Hill House.
