Shoreview Senior Living’s Activities Staff has been learning so much from Dementia Care Specialist Teepa Snow, and her “Positive Approach to Care.” Our dedicated team always focuses on creating meaningful activities for our seniors!
Shoreview Senior Living resident, Betty, had an amazing visit with her family recently. She loved showing off the incredible progress of her Amaryllis flowers – how beautiful! Awesome job, Betty! 🌺
We snacked on some tasty HERSHEY’S KISSES while playing bingo recently. Shoreview Senior Living resident, Shirley, loves enjoying the time with others as much as she does the game and prizes!

On September 28, Shoreview Senior Living and the Southview Senior
Communities team will be joining the Alzheimer’s Association Minnesota-North
Dakota for the 2019 Walk to End Alzheimer’s at Target Field. There are 5.8
million Americans living with Alzheimer’s today, and that number is projected
to rise to nearly 14 million by 2050. We’d love your help as we work to raise
awareness, reduce risk, and eliminate Alzheimer’s through research and care. Learn more about donating and/or registering to walk.
Together, we can fight to end Alzheimer’s!
We’re coming into the end of summer, but the fun continues here at Shoreview! This month, we’ve held Alzheimer’s Association fundraisers, learned about nature, and much more. Check it out!
To raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association, our residents and staff donated items for a “happy hour auction.” A fun afternoon fundraising for a great cause!
More fundraising for the Alzheimer’s Association! On August 21, everyone enjoyed a delicious meal, reminisced, and shared memories during our old-time, ’50s-themed BBQ fundraiser.
We love the monthly visits and lessons with our friends from Silverwood Nature Center! We get to learn so much about nature, and then apply it to the art we create that day.
A change of plans due to rainy weather can be a bummer. But when that change involves ice cream and music, life is good! ???
Trudi brings us sunshine each month with her love of music. For August, she brought us an afternoon at the state fair!
We are thankful for this couple, Tony and Irmi. They spend a LOT of time in the back garden, and we all reap the rewards!
We are proud to announce that Shoreview Senior Living and ten other Southview Senior Communities raised over $23,000, more than doubling our goal! The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is a nationwide fundraiser event for the Alzheimer’s Association in an effort to support lives affected by Alzheimer’s and advance research to treat and prevent Alzheimer’s disease.
On September 15, we join the Walk to End Alzheimer’s at Target Field in Minneapolis. Alzheimer’s is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States, killing more than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined. One in three seniors dies with Alzheimer’s or some form of dementia. The Alzheimer’s Association and Walk to End Alzheimer’s mission is to bring awareness, reduce the risk, and eliminate Alzheimer’s through research and care. You can help us by donating: http://bit.ly/2Bl2y7U or participating in the walk. Details here: http://bit.ly/2vOJVEg
We had plenty of tasty food and wonderful music at our Back to the 50’s Barbecue! Donations were accepted in support of the Alzheimer’s Association Minnesota-North Dakota.
Worldwide, more than 50 million people are living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. During Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness month in June, the Alzheimer’s Association encourages people around the world to learn about and spread awareness. This month, go purple and inspire action.
Alzheimer’s is a disease that attacks the brain. The most common form of dementia, Alzheimer’s is not a normal part of the aging process. The disease affects memory, thought process, and behavior, and is serious enough to interfere with daily life, progressively worsening over time. The sixth leading cause of death in the United States, Alzheimer’s has no cure.

Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month
The Minnesota-North Dakota Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association suggests these ways to learn more and get involved during Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month:
Spread awareness of the 10 Ways to Love Your Brain – it’s never too early or too late to develop healthy habits, and combining these habits, like regular cardiovascular exercise, a balanced, healthy diet, challenging your mind, and getting enough sleep, can help reduce risk of cognitive decline.
Share your story and get inspired by others who also tell of their experiences with the disease.
Go Purple – wear the official color of Alzheimer’s awareness and turn your social media profiles purple as well.
Participate in The Longest Day event on June 20 in honor of those facing the disease. Select any activity that you love (or one loved by someone affected by Alzheimer’s), raise money to advance the cause, and share your story.
