Batik Art

Residents learned the ancient Indonesian art of Batiking. They colored shapes and patterns on color-resistant paper. Then the unimaginable happened; they had to crumple them up! Many just looked at me thinking, “Why on earth would I do that?”

Once they finally did it, they painted, blotted, and ironed the paper. We finished it with some lamination. They turned out great! Someday, we will do fabric Batik. It is always fun to learn ways of a different culture.
