Decorating for Christmas

November 30th, 2017

Tuesday turned out to be such a busy day. We started getting ready for the holidays by putting up Christmas trees and adding beautiful decor. Anne learned how to make bows for all our Poinsettia plants. Later in the day, we celebrated our hard work with live music from the Maple Street Ramblers. It was wonderful hearing our favorite tunes with a Dixieland twist. “When the Saints go Marching in” was the song we ended the night with, Conga line and all!

Birds & Painting

November 29th, 2017

It feels nice back to be after the holiday to see how the residents are doing and hear about their weekends. Silverwood visited us for our final session this year. The residents created beautiful pictures using ink and watercolors. Silverwood taught us about bird migration. It was interesting to learn why birds fly in a v, that hummingbirds travel together, and loons migrate from northern lakes to coastal ocean waters. Silverwood played sounds of the birds. Leo, the dog,  ran to Jim for safety, he was the only one unsure of them. Remember to keep food out this time of year to ensure the birds have a safe flight south!

Music: Rich and the Resistors

November 28th, 2017

At Shoreview Senior Living, we kicked off the holiday season with music from Rich and the Resistors. They played everyone’s favorite songs, and Bert’s grandson helped sing along. He could become the next big rock star!

At this time of Thanksgiving, we pause to count our blessings.
Whatever is beautiful.
Whatever is in your heart.
Whatever is meaningful.
Whatever brings you happiness… May it be yours this holiday season.

Trudi’s Sing-along

November 20th, 2017

Trudi and Frank came to visit for a sing-along, celebrating through song everything November has to offer.
It’s people like this that make our days extra special.

“I wake up every day,
As happy as can be,
Because I know that with his care
My apple trees, they will still be there.
The Lord’s been good to me.”

These words are so true to each one of us!

Junk Trees

November 15th, 2017

Jill visited Shoreview Senior Living to help residents create “junk art” Christmas trees and wreaths. The residents were innovative. We enjoyed looking through all the fun projects using stuff like bottle caps and dice. This was a perfect project for the holidays! Leo, the dog, also joined us and brought smiles to everyone. He tried his luck at some Blackjack and won 50 cents! I bet he’s saving it to buy a nice dog bone!

Honoring Our Veterans

November 13th, 2017

We celebrated Veterans Day to honor those who have served in our military. The Color Guard from Washington Technology Magnet School opened the Veterans Day ceremony by honoring the flag. Shoreview’s veterans shared their stories: sad and funny, but the tears told it all. Nate Ducharme, who is a Navy veteran and recruiter, came in to help honor each of our veterans. He set up an American White table for those overseas or who have never made it home. Rohan and Leo from Cub Scouts Pack 525 visited and shared doughnuts and stories with all our service members. They made special and meaningful pins for each branch. Shoreview Senior Living wants to thank all our veterans for their service and to everyone who made this day special for our veterans.
