Silverwood Nature Center

April 26th, 2017

Today Silverwood Nature Center joined us for a wonderful afternoon learning about nature. We heard sounds of various birds and frogs and learned about other creatures as well.  Residents also enjoyed creating a tile using things found in nature such as pinecones, leaves, acorns, twigs and bark. The impressions were beautiful and they added some color to their masterpieces after. Can’t wait to see them after  they are fired in the kiln. Look forward to more adventures with nature next month with Silverwood Nature Center!

Easter Open House

April 24th, 2017

Easter Open House Saturday morning. Kids were able to make a fruit loop necklace, decorate their own cookie, color some pictures and play with the Easter Bunny.
It was so fun to see the kids excitement and creativity. Residents came down to check it out as well and stayed for the fun. Some even got sweet hugs from a precious little girl named Stella towards the end!! The Easter Bunny got away for awhile and decided to go make some special visits, so heartwarming to see everyone’s reaction. One things is for sure residents never seem to grow old in their hearts! Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success. Blessings to everyone for a wonderful Easter with family and friends.

Busy times, so much to do! Adult coloring, Wheel of Fortune and  a Meet and Greet with the  residents in our new building “The Westsiders”. Amazing afternoon with the Raptor Center from St Paul’s U of M Campus. They brought in a Red Tailed Hawk, Falcon, Horned owl and an Eagle. They talked about each of the birds and so many residents asked questions. The beauty of nature and God’s creations are so amazing to see. I am so grateful for Jamie to help us be a part of it. Saw Dusters

April 10th, 2017

What a terrific afternoon. I invited the “Saw dusters” to come and visit the residents and they really put on a show! They are a group of men who do woodworking and decided to step out of the box with creating a band. They were full of humor and songs residents all remembered. “When rain falls does it ever get back up?? In Dew Time” LOL. My favorite song was a senior rendition of “Let me call you sweetheart”

Valda who is our #1 knitter donated her scarves, hats, washcloths and slippers to Donna (The wife of one of the men in the group) who is part of a group that helps children in need. She was delighted to know her work will be appreciated.
