Steve Glischinski’s Train Stories

Steve Glischinski an author of many books on Trains stopped by to present his story and his knowledge and love of such a fascinating form of transportation. From steam trains to diesel trains, The Burlington to the Great Northern , residents reminisced as they remembered how trains played such an important role in our history. Minnesota’s freight railroads form a critical part of the State’s multi modal transportation system. Many of the state’s major industries rely on the rail system for efficient delivery of goods. Minnesota has a Light Rail too which helps people commute to and from work.  His books are WONDERFUL and full of great pictures and stories. Help preserve these memories and history with today’s generation and check out his books.

March Auction

Friday was a busy afternoon with our monthly auction. Many turned out to get a hold of some new treasures. Yvonne “went out of the box” and bought the blue wrap. Not exactly sure what it was, but I was ready to pay someone to take it. What a sport to try it on for all of us!!

Sing-a-Long with Trudi

Celebrated the month of March with a “Sing-a-Long with Trudi”. Recited limericks and poetry and sang  all our favorite Irish tunes such as An Irish Lullaby and My Wild Irish Rose. Trudi is always a blessing to us when she comes. She is truly special to us all here and we look forward to her visits each month.

Urban Growler

Tuesday the “Men’s Club” took a trip the “Urban Growler” in St Paul. It was an amazing adventure as we toured around the facility and enjoyed a delicious lunch. What an establishment!! Jill and Deb were terrific hosts and Shawn was a great server. Thank you for your time in assuring the men had a great time. We will be sure to go back soon! Even picked up a growler for next Men’s Club get together. If you have never been there…you HAVE to check it out and be sure to tell them you heard about them from Shoreview Senior Living!

Spring Tea Party

Monday we celebrated the first day of Spring with a Tea Party with Jill. Residents reminisced about old movies, songs, and actors and actresses through the years. The stumper was “What was the name of the 1940 movie with Brier Rabbit” ….you know?? “Song of the South”. Jill’s voice touched us all and residents were delighted as they sang along. Couldn’t ask for a better day!

Miss Maude Humor and Footprint Crafts

Tuesday residents gathers to listen to the humor and inspiration of Miss Maude. Lot’s of laughs as so many remembered how they could relate to how life was when they were younger. Leo even enjoyed all the Farm noises she made..LOL.  After they created a lil inspirational hanging of “Footprints”. Just a reminder to them that even when things get hard they need to remember God will carry them  through.
